Fire layoff notices going out

An agreement has been signed that allowed layoff notices for firefighters to be issued. (For background, catch up here, here and here.)

Here’s a copy of the agreement. It does not suspend minimum staffing requirements between now and July 1.

The number of scheduled layoffs in the Fire Department under the “Plan B” city budget proposal is 41, city spokeswoman Connie Cochran said. (The Plan B budget calls for 48 position eliminations through layoffs, retirement and attrition.)
