Mixed bag

During a lengthy Economic Development Department budget presentation last night, Deputy City Manager Mike Locke provided brief updates on two of last year’s incentive programs meant to help boost the economy:

• The city’s developer impact fee reduction and deferral program was intended to help spark growth. So far, it has not, Locke said. He said he would provide a more detailed presentation in the coming months.

• The city’s microloan program for small businesses has been more successful, he said. Some 27 loans worth about $271,000 have been provided, he said.
