Canepa on Brown

New Stockton City Councilman Paul Canepa was at Gov. Jerry Brown’s talk today in Sacramento. Brown was visiting a League of California Cities conference for new city leaders and defended his proposal to eliminate redevelopment agencies.

Here’s an item from the Los Angeles Times about his remarks.

Cities, including Stockton, aren’t happy about the proposal. Canepa said he isn’t either.

Still, he said he and others enjoyed Brown’s talk. The governor received a standing ovation at the beginning and end of his remarks, Canepa said. Despite tension over his budget proposal, Brown could engage the group, Canepa said.

“He’s like a stand-up comedian,” he said. “It kind of breaks the ice.”
