Huber off climate panel

Applications for one-year terms are out for the city’s Climate Action Plan Advisory Committee, the panel formed as a condition of a legal settlement with outgoing state Attorney General Jerry Brown and the Sierra Club over Stockton’s growth-governing General Plan.

Existing members have been encouraged to re-apply for the one-year terms.

One person who won’t be doing that: Kevin Huber, CEO of developer the Grupe Co. He stepped down from the board earlier this month.

Here’s his letter. Basically, when the city updated its conflict-of-interest code this year, it included the climate committee among the groups whose members will be required to file economic disclosure forms. Huber wrote that he doesn’t agree that members are required by law to do that, so he stepped down.
