Industrial project, Deis review and mayor’s vacation (updated)

•Planning Commission meets tonight. Here’s the agenda. Among the items is a proposal to develop and annex 70 acres of vacant county land in the southwest corner of Arch and Newcastle roads for industrial uses (see second bullet item in this previous blog post for more background). No specific project has been named yet. UPDATE: The Planning Commission delayed action on this item because of environmental comments received by the San Joaquin Council of Governments. The item may be back up in November.

•The City Council has scheduled a special closed session Monday to evaluate City Manager Bob Deis. Mayor Ann Johnston said today that Deis requested feedback on his first three months in office, and she said she doesn’t expect any decisions or announcements that evening.

•The mayor said she will return from vacation on Monday. She said she’s in Hawaii visiting family and friends, a trip she said she tries to make once a year.
