AG: nothing yet on tickets

The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said last week it would punt on the issue of whether City Council members violated the city charter by reporting free tickets to local events, instead referring the matter to the state attorney general.

So far, that office has not received anything, spokeswoman Becca MacLaren said today. Here’s what she wrote in an e-mail to The Record this afternoon:

The AG’s criminal unit received a call from the Stockton DA’s office last week and suggested the office contact the AG’s government and civil rights units. At this time, neither of those units has received a referral from the Stockton DA’s office.  If this referral comes in, either or both of those units will evaluate the matter to determine whether the Attorney General’s intervention is appropriate.
