Officials get input on privatization from library boosters

Yesterday, Friends of the Library groups from Stockton, Ripon, Tracy, Manteca and Linden gathered with city and county officials to discuss the proposal to privatize the library system. For two hours, boosters peppered officials with questions and skepticism about the proposal.

Former Stockton City Manager Dwane Milnes, who is a member of Stockton Friends of the Library, raised many questions about a private company’s ability to maintain quality library services. He submitted a 17-page paper outlining those questions.
