More from City Hall:

6:29 p.m.:

In a presentation about technology at City Hall, Administrative Services Director and Chief Financial Officer Mark Moses said investment in new technology is lacking.

Moses said it is hard to train employees on systems that are 20 years old. They know there is better technology the city could be using, he said. They use better technology at home.

The city in the next five years needs some $15.5 million in technology, including a document management system, business and public safety systems and desktop and network upgrades, Moses said. There is about $5.2 million available.

One good thing, Moses said, is that the city has waited so long that the price of a business system upgrade, for example, is much, much lower. Also, staff does not resist the change, he said.
