Consent passes absent the modified workweek, or 9/80. Human Resources Director Dianna Garcia is up to present that.
Councilman Dale Fritchen said he is in favor but would prefer a voluntary 9/80. Garcia said to spread out days off “dilutes the availability of the workforce.”
Mayor Ann Johnston is asking interim City Manager Kevin O’Rourke about the lines that sometimes form downstairs for utility bill payments. O’Rourke said he was talking with some employees about the office’s opening early on Monday, after the furlough/holiday week, to take payments. The early opening eliminated long lines, officials said. O’Rourke said one employee told him that employees, too, are frustrated when long lines form. The frustration for that employee, he said, was that residents in long lines could not be served more quickly.
The matter is back to the council. It is approved 7-0.
