More from City Hall: Bentz recognized

5:50 p.m.:

Mayor Ann Johnston and interim City Manager Kevin O’Rourke are at the podium, and department directors are filing in. Johnston and O’Rourke are surprising Teri Bentz, the retiring assistant to the city manager, with a plaque (The recognition was not on the agenda, a measure to avoid tipping Bentz, who manages agendas).

Johnston said Bentz “knows the city of Stockton like the back of her hand.” Johnston called Bentz the “go-to girl.” She said, “We will miss you.”

Bentz said, “I am speechless.” She said, “The last 24 years working for the city has been a fabulous ride … I’ve loved every minute of it.”
