Renison out

Dave Renison announced this morning that he is withdrawing his candidacy in north Stockton’s City Council District 1, in which he sought to oust Councilman Elbert Holman Jr.

Renison, a real estate agent and software technology distributor, issued a written statement in which he said “after much soul-searching and in consultation with my wife and family, I have concluded that I will be more effective in a role other than as a member of the Council.”

Renison, 56, started campaigning in September. He had about 100 people at a party at his north side home for his first event, and he had the endorsement of San Joaquin County Supervisor Steve Bestolarides, the district’s former councilman. Renison’s consultant was Don Parsons.
