More from City Hall: Childress on mass demonstrations

5:40 p.m.:

Cynthia Gayle Boyd is at the podium, following James Young.

Mayor Ann Johnston is again limiting speakers to three minutes, as she has for several weeks (The limit traditionally has been five minutes), a measure people on the Second Floor appreciate.

Gayle Boyd is again claiming mistreatment by the Police Department.

5:44 p.m.:

William Childress is at the podium, here again to protest the firing of Deputy City Manager Johnny Ford. Lester Patrick and Bobby Bivens have just arrived, likely to address the same subject.

Childress said, “Restore Johnny Ford to his rightful position and move on.” He said, “I most fear the disruptive impact of mass demonstrations catalogued” by national media outlets.

Childress is requesting that the matter be put on next week’s agenda.
