Morning roundup

Revitalization Director Dave Harzoff’s marina operating estimates are causing some former redevelopment officials to stir. It is unexplained how the annual estimated deficit increased from $100,000 to $700,000, said Jerry Scharlin, who managed the project before his retirement. Scharlin and the Redevelopment Department (now the Revitalization Department) last year recommended municipal operation of the marina. Harzoff recommended – and the City Council last week hired – an outside operator. More to follow this week.

Taste Ultra Lounge, which was scheduled to open Friday in the downtown, did not. Community Development Director Michael Niblock said this morning, “There were a number of fire code and building code issues, life-safety issues that just were not resolved in time.” He said, “They are working diligently in getting all the work completed.”
