More from City Hall: Ford camp calling for a postponement

6:39 p.m.:

Former City Councilman Ralph Lee White is asking the City Council to put off until the full council is present the discussion of fired Deputy City Manager Johnny Ford. Councilwoman Diana Lowery, one of the Ford ad-hoc committee members, is absent. White is also speaking on the Boys and Girls Club’s behalf.

6:43 p.m.:

William Childress is thanking the ad-hoc committee for a “much-needed report.” He said that in the report, “We see clearly the injustice that was done to Mr. Ford.” Childress said Ford’s ouster was the result of a “snowball” of misinformation.

6:46 p.m.:

Bobby Bivens, president of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is also asking for the Ford matter to be put off until the full council is present. He said, “I would ask that one of the council members would make a motion to carry this item over.”

6:47 p.m.:

Lester Patrick, too, is calling for the Ford matter to be tabled. He said, “I think that if the wrong decision is made, then it’s just going to blow up.” He said, “I believe that it is in the best interest of all parties to defer this until later.”

And that is it. Public comment is done.
