Silva, Murrillo, Canepa and more

Former Stockton Unified School District Trustee Anthony Silva said this afternoon that he will not be a candidate in north Stockton’s City Council District 3. He said he is considering a run in central Stockton’s District 5. The incumbent in that district is Susan Eggman, who is running for reelection.

In District 3, University of the Pacific graduate student Arthur Murrillo’s campaign started Thursday. It was a modest beginning: 17 people were in a room for 120 when he began his speech at 6:20 p.m. Ramiro Reyes, formerly a failed candidate in District 5, was what Murrillo referred to as the “monster of ceremonies.”

Motecuzoma Patrick Sanchez, who failed in campaigns last year for mayor and for the San Joaquin Delta College Board of Trustees, said today that he also will compete in District 3. So did Willie K. Kelly Jr.

Lincoln Unified School District Trustee Paul Canepa said he is considering it.

“I’ve really got to check with my wife,” he said.
