Murrillo to run in District 3

Arthur Murrillo, a University of the Pacific graduate student who is active in Democratic circles, announced today that he will run for election to the City Council next year in Councilwoman Leslie Baranco Martin’s District 3. Martin is terming out.

Murrillo has been more familiar in Stockton Unified School District politics than he has been at City Hall. In April, calling himself a “concerned citizen,” Murrillo served district Trustee Jose Morales with recall papers. But three months later Murrillo said he supported Morales and was against a subsequent recall effort.

In an e-mail this afternoon Murrillo said:

Dear Friends,

I would like to share some great news with you. I am a candidate for Stockton City Council district 3 because I want to improve our great city. I hope you will attend our first campaign fundraiser on Thursday, September 10 at Cancun Restaurant from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Admission is $35. According to the invitation, “DJ Spins the Music!”
