More from City Hall: White “rapping the hell out of it”

Former City Councilman Ralph Lee White is at the podium.┬áHe said, “What happened to Johnny Ford, when you offend one of my people you have offended me.”

In his experience at City Hall, he said, “I have never seen this many black people come out.”

Now White is going after City Manager Gordon Palmer. Mayor Ann Johnston asked him to stop. He’s recounting what he believes were the performance marks for Palmer in his closed session review last week. White said Palmer fired Ford to get rid of him before he was appointed manager to replace Palmer. He said the firing was a racist act.

“You don’t reinstate Johnny Ford. You get rid of him,” White said, pointing to Palmer. Then, he said, the council could have Ford hired back.

Johnston said, “Mr. White, will you wrap it up, please?”

White said, “I’m rapping the hell out of it.”
