Police deal ratified

The Stockton Police Officers Association this evening ratified its tentative labor deal with City Hall, involving millions of dollars in concessions and cancelling police layoffs, said Officer Lon Hudson, a union official

As of 8 p.m. the vote was 268 officers for the agreement and 39 against, he said. Hudson said it is mathematically impossible that the vote will fail. About 20 officers are left to vote, he said.

“It’s the best news for us,” he said. “It’s the best news for the community.”
