Morning (late today) roundup

The City Council finished Wednesday with all but the fire and revitalization department budget presentations, putting those off until Tuesday.

The Big Read, launched at last month’s Stockton Asparagus Festival, has Mayor Ann Johnston at Chivita’s Salsa Sports Bar and Grill at 6 p.m. for a dinner and discussion of Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451.” The dystopian novel had firemen burning books for the good of humanity. The impact of municipal budgets on libraries is not a central theme.

Vice Mayor Kathy Miller and Council members Elbert Holman Jr. and Diana Lowery are to be at the Bob Hope Theatre at 6 p.m. for the San Joaquin International Film Festival.
