More from City Hall: Chavez Central proposed closed Sundays, Mondays

8:10 p.m.:

At the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting staffers flooded in for Day 2 of the council’s budget study session (there are more comfortable places to watch talk about DWSP, it turns out). Community Services Director Pamela Sloan is up first.

The Library Services Fund is proposed to be reduced $2 million, to $11 million in fiscal 2009-10. That is a 16 percent reduction. Book purchases are to be reduced and library hours are to be reduced. Sloan is proposing closing Cesar Chavez Central Library and north Stockton’s Troke Branch Library Mondays and Tuesdays and other branch libraries more days than that.
