PD negotiation continuing

The administration and the Stockton Police Officers Association are to meet again today in their labor negotiation. City Hall has said it must have millions of dollars in concessions by April 30 to maintain a spending proposal that even with such concessions would be brutal.

“By everybody’s report, the last meeting they had last week was the most promising meeting that there has been,” City Councilwoman Susan Eggman said this morning. “I think we’re trying to come together with something to move us forward. … I know that they came up with something. And I know we countered with something.”

The city’s financial situation is so dire, Eggman said, that no matter the result, “Nothing’s going to be pretty.”
