In dry Stockton, we’re usually left looking at a precip map of Northern California and asking the question: “Why not here?”
We’re often among the driest spots in this portion of the state.
Not on Friday. We were one of the wettest. For our city, the rainfall appears to have been a once-every-five-years kind of event.
The four wettest rain events I could find going back to 1994:
• Friday: 1.45 inches
• Oct. 13, 2009: 1.46 inches
• Nov. 8, 2002: 1.50 inches
• Dec. 21, 1996: 1.92 inches
But don’t get too comfortable. We’re still just 46 percent of normal for the season.
