I don’t buy it

Gutters were flowing, streets were wet and I saw a few folks breaking out umbrellas. And yet, Monday’s rain total for Stockton will be written in the books as the smallest reportable number — 0.01 inches.

Of course, Stockton’s official weather records are kept at the Stockton Metropolitan Airport, which in the far southern portion of the city is often drier than where most people live.

Small though it might be, that one-hundredth of an inch of rain was enough to tie the record for the date. 0.01 inches of rain also fell on Sept. 3, 2000.
