August — a breeze

It appearsĀ more and more likely that Stockton will escape the month of August with just one day at 100 degrees or greater (Aug. 19, 103 degrees).

If this seems abnormal for the second-hottest month of the year, it is.

But let’s not forget about August 2011, when we had zero days in triple digits. That also happened in 1991, 1985, 1956 and 1954.

Heck, in ’54 the hottest temperature in August was a mere 95 degrees.

Sounds lovely.

By contrast, only once has the month of July failed to produce at least one triple-digit day, and that was in 1987.

Of course, September is more than capable of producing nasty heat, but it sure seems like the worst might be behind us, folks. Knock on particle board.
