On the cover

Methinks Brookside Monthly, a neighborhood magazine here in Stockton, is not wild over the governor’s twin tunnels proposal.

Pictured above is the cover to July’s edition. Note Uncle Sam figure trashing home, yanking out telephone line and abandoning unhappy Teddy bear in pile of ugly tunnel muck.

Dramatics aside, the environmental impact report for the project does say that 43 homes would have to be removed to make way for the tunnels (see page 141).
