Signs update

Quick update on the confiscation this week of Delta advocates’ signs by Caltrans, as reported in today’s dead-tree edition.

I’m still waiting for a response from Caltrans, but Richard Stapler, spokesman for the California Resources Agency, sent the following email about noon today to Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla of Restore the Delta:

“Barbara – following up from last night, I’ve spoken to my counterpart at the Transportation Agency who tells me that they have ordered CalTrans to immediately stop taking down any signs until the right-of-way issues can be resolved.

“I appreciate you bringing this issue to light, and while I know there is disagreement over issues, this path isn’t acceptable. I’ll keep you posted as we find out more.”
