A greater role for Delta counties?

The Delta Counties Coalition has some thoughts on how to give the Delta a “meaningful” role in overseeing operations of the twin tunnels — if they’re built.

The governance structure that has been proposed by organizers of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan limits Delta representation to an advisory stakeholder council.

In stark contrast, the counties propose that elected officials from all five Delta counties sit on an 11-member “Executive Council” with voting power.

BDCP orchestrator Jerry Meral has indicated willingness to consider a larger role for Delta residents. We’ll see what comes out of the counties’ proposal.
