Where will you be on Wednesday?
It’s a big day on the environment beat, at least in terms of the sheer number of meetings.
A public meeting in West Sacramento on Wednesday afternoon will address last week’s release of portions of the Delta twin tunnels plan. Right about that time, across the Sacramento River, the California Water Commission will discuss using eminent domain on private Delta lands to conduct studies needed to build those tunnels.
Roughly a half-dozen blocks from the commission meeting, the State Water Resources Control Board will spend Wednesday (plus Thursday and maybe Friday) hearing testimony on a proposal to send more water down the San Joaquin River.
And in a case of very unfortunate timing, the Friends of the Lower Calaveras River will be hosting its State of Our Rivers Symposium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Joaquin Council of Governments in downtown Stockton.
Here’s the good news, for those who need to wind down after a day under the fluorescent lights: A sunset paddle trip is planned for 4:30 p.m. at Lodi Lake.
My kind of meeting.
