Galt’s sad news

The Galt City Council had been scheduled Tuesday night to consider endorsing Robert Pyke’s peripheral tunnels alternative, but the tragic shooting death of police officer Kevin Tonn, 35, prompted officials to cancel that meeting.

Meanwhile, a coalition of environmental groups and urban water agencies in both Northern California and Southern California announced their own alternative today, and it includes a single, 3,000 cfs tunnel (as opposed to the current plan, which is to pump up to 9,000 cfs from the Sacramento River).
