What’s on tap — weekend of Dec. 15-16 and beyond

Saturday, Dec. 15: Native grass planting event, south bank of the Calaveras River at the University of the Pacific. The public is invited to help. 9 a.m. to noon. For more details call (209) 922-8215.

Saturday, Dec. 15-Sunday, Dec. 16: Sandhill crane wetland tours at the Woodbridge Ecological Preserve. Offered the first three weekends of each month, October through February. Reservations accepted up to six weeks in advance. More details here.

Sunday, Dec. 16: Annual Christmas Bird Count by the Audubon Society. The dawn-to-dusk outing continues rain or shine. The public is invited to help. More details here.

Tuesday, Dec. 18: Class, “Snowshoe Basics.” 7 p.m., Stockton REI. Free. More details here.

Wednesday, Dec. 19: San Joaquin Bicycle Coalition holiday ride. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; meet at the Empresso Cafe back parking lot on the Miracle Mile. Rides will be held at the same time Dec. 5 and Dec. 12. More details here.
