James Lawrence Powell, a geologist formerly appointed to the National Science Board by presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, attempted to find out if scientists really do disagree about global warming as the media sometimes reports and the general public seems to believe.
He found 13,950 scientific articles mentioning “global warming” or “global climate change.”
Twenty-four of them reject it.
That’s about 0.17 percent.
“Scientists do not disagree about human-caused global warming,” Powell concludes. “It is the ruling paradigm of climate science, in the same way that plate tectonics is the ruling paradigm of geology. We know that continents move. We know that the earth is warming and that human emissions of greenhouse gases are the primary cause. These are known facts about which virtually all publishing scientists agree.”
