Celebrating a scourge

Instead of spraying for water hyacinth, which hasn’t been terribly effective around Stockton lately, could we somehow put the weed to good use?

That’s the dream of Cynthia Shelton, boater and brainchild of the Water Hyacinth Festival (see her illustration, above).

Will it happen? Probably not. But Shelton dreams big, and she’s not the only one with water hyacinth on the brain. Story coming this weekend in the newspaper and at recordnet.com.
