Raising flood awareness

Watch your mailbox for an annual reminder from the Department of Water Resources that, yes, you live in an area with flood risk.

DWR is required by law to mail notifications to 275,000 property owners across 17 Central Valley counties. Most folks in Stockton should get one.

Click here for a map where you can type in your address and learn about the potential source and depth of a flood (3 feet or more at my place). Residents on the east side of Stockton might not be too satisfied with this tool, however — their neighborhoods are generally classified as “depth unknown.”
