More pelican sightings?

Responding to Saturday’s story about brown pelicans venturing inland, two callers report additional sightings.

A woman says she saw a pelican at Mariposa and Pock lanes in Stockton a couple of weeks ago. That’s just east of the fairgrounds.

“It was huge,” the woman said. “They’re also coming into town.”

A fisherman also reports seeing what he believes was a brown pelican at Lake Pardee on July 27, though he admits the bird was some distance off.

“It was so large,” he said. “We saw a wingspan of maybe 6 feet. I suspect one of those birds is hanging around Pardee.”
