Mark those calendars

Two members of Stockton’s Delta Coalition said at a meeting this morning that they have heard the governor’s peripheral canal/tunnel announcement will be made July 25 on the steps of the state Capitol.

The news came from San Joaquin County’s Elena Reyes and Restore the Delta’s Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla.

A counter-demonstration will be held at the same time the governor makes the announcement, Barrigan-Parrilla said.

Speaking of the Delta Coalition, Wednesday’s 8:30 a.m. meeting was another sign that it’s business as usual despite the city’s imminent bankruptcy.

Mayor Ann Johnston, Vice Mayor Kathy Miller and City Attorney John Luebberke were all present bright and early, despite the lengthy and emotionally draining five-hour meeting the night before.
