Saturday, Feb 4: California Department of Fish and Game hosts free fishing clinic, 6 a.m. to noon at Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton. Pond stocked with trout; DFG rods, bait and tackle available to use. Anglers 16 years and older must have valid California fishing license. More details here.

Saturday, Feb. 4: Audubon Society introductory birding field trip. Join leader Lorna Elness at 8 a.m. at the north end of Laurel Avenue in Lodi.

Monday, Feb. 6: Campaign for Common Ground meeting, featuring former state Sen. Patrick Johnston, a member of the Delta Stewardship Council. 7 p.m., Family Resource & Referral Center, 509 W. Weber Avenue, Stockton. Johnston will discuss impacts that the new Delta Plan could have on Stockton and San Joaquin County, especially when it comes to future development.

Wednesday, Feb. 8: San Joaquin Council of Governments workshops on new plan for smart growth. 2 p.m. at the Lodi Library, 201 W. Locust St., and 6 p.m. at the Tracy Transit Center, 50 E. 6th St.
