Lawsuit imminent
A group called the Coalition for a Sustainable Delta filed a notice of intent today to sue a couple of power plants and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, alleging that the plants in Contra Costa County are a significant reason for the decline of the Delta smelt.
This coalition, an “ad-hoc group of water users [...]

Hot topic (sorry)
It’s been debated and discussed at the international, national and regional levels. Now global warming is coming to Stockton.
The local Sierra Club chapter will discuss climate change at its meeting tonight (Monday). And you’re invited. You don’t have to be an “environmentalist” to attend.

Who’s gonna drive ya home?
My email inbox, which informs me about all things in the world, says tomorrow (Saturday) is “World Car Free Day.” People from all over the world are supposed to get out of their cars and try other transportation options, thus reducing auto emissions.

“Holy cow!” reads an email sent [...]

C’ya CO2
At the Society of Environmental Journalists annual conference in Palo Alto last week, we heard a lot about reducing greenhouse gases and debate over a new carbon tax or cap and trade system.
We also spent a lot of time on a diesel-belching bus.
To account for this apparent contradiction, SEJ found a sponsor — Clif Bar — [...]

Bless me, father…
…for I have purchased a giant multipack of thick Bounty paper towels.
A new Web site, www.truegreenconfessions.com, allows people to confess their sins against the environment.
“I drive a gas-guzzling Range Rover…” one sinner writes.
“I drive my car 14 blocks to work. It gives me an extra 10 to 15 minutes to sleep in the morning,” another [...]

Gone again
I’ll be out of the office for the rest of the week, attending the Society of Environmental Journalists conference at Stanford University. Will hop back on the blog bandwagon early next week.
Have a good one!
