Know Thine Enemy: Inderkum Tigers

The Manteca football team defeated Sacramento-Inderkum in the 2013 Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs en route to a section championship and NorCal bowl game appearance. RECORD FILE 2013

Driving from Manteca High to Inderkum High in north Sacramento takes a little over an hour, without traffic, and provided you don’t drive like a raging lunatic who just chugged four Monsters.

Yet, these teams are all too familiar with one another, at least from a program standpoint.

Manteca knocked off Inderkum in the 2013 Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, en route to a section banner and a NorCal bowl game appearance. In 2012, though, the Tigers bounced the Buffaloes from the postseason.

This year, No. 3 Inderkum (11-0) hosts No. 6 Manteca (9-2) in a Div. III semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday, in what you could call the rubber match for the 2010s.

Inderkum unfurled 82 points in smashing No. 14 Lincoln (of Lincoln, not Stockton), last week.

Here’s my “Know Thine Enemy” look at the Tigers:
