WNIT: Utah at Pacific (pregame)

The Pacific women’s basketball team continues it postseason run in about 10 minutes as Utah visits Spanos Center in the third round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Tigers (27-7) will host Saint Mary’s in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday with a victory, but it won’t come easy against the Utes (20-13) of the Pac-12.

Pacific will have to find a way to slow down Utah’s twin towers, 6-foot-4 Michelle Plouffe and 6-foot-3 Taryn Wicijowski, who are the team’s top two scorers and rebounders. Coach Lynne Roberts felt the best way to do that would be to speed up the tempo of the game, but that could be a difficult task if they can’t stop Plouffe in the post.

There is a larger than usual crowd on hand and look for that to boost Pacific to a 66-60 victory and an Elite Eight date with Saint Mary’s.
