Tempers flare as Thunder ices win

Just as Stockton goalie Tyler Bunz was putting the finishing touches on his impressive 4-1 win against Ontartio on Sunday Stockton Arena, he received an unwelcomed visit from Reign forward Derek Couture.

It didn’t go well.

Couture had spent much of the game trying to claim real estate in front of the Stockton net, and after the game the two traded words, and that quickly turned into trading punches. The scuffle ended pretty quickly.

“We’re both competitive guys,” Bunz said. “I’m fighting for my positions, and so is he. Every game we play battle pretty hard in front of the net, and at the end of the game we probably had enough of each other.”

Stockton clinched a playoff spot Sunday. It currently would be the fourth seed in the National Conference and have home ice in the first round.
