Two teams that figure to be factors in the Big West Conference race all season are about to lock horns at Spanos Center.
Cal Poly (7-7, 3-1) comes in off a last-second 69-67 loss at UC Davis on Thursday, while Pacific (8-7, 2-1) played its most complete game of the season against UC Santa Barbara in an 80-62 win.
The Mustangs are led by junior forward Chris Eversley (15.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game) and he’ll match up with forwards Travis Fulton and Ross Rivera, who have both played well recently, combining for 47 points in the past two wins.
While Pacific dominated Cal Poly after the school transitioned into Division I, the Mustangs have fared well lately, winning three of the past four matchups, and holding the Tigers under 40 points in each victory.
It would be quite the feat for coach Joe Callero’s Mustangs to manage that tonight, but it should be a hard-fought, close game, with Pacific prevailing 74-68.
