Oral Roberts at Pacific (pregame)

After a laugher in its home opener against Division II Holy Names, the Pacific men’s basketball team is poised to take the Spanos Center floor against a much tougher opponent in Oral Roberts.

The Golden Eagles were a second-round NIT team last year and have enough talent back under coach Scott Sutton to be favored to win the Southland Conference.

The Tigers lost a close decision in Fresno State last Friday and will likely need improved late-game execution to beat Oral Roberts. Coach Bob Thomason will look to his backcourt of senior Lorenzo McCloud and junior transfer shooting guard Sama Taku to provide the spark on offense.

More later.
