Sometimes it’s hard not to focus on the last thing that happens in a game and I will do so here.
Oral Roberts leads Pacific 37-34 at halftime here at Spanos Center after junior center Tony Gill hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key with six seconds remaining to tighten up the game. The Golden Eagles have outplayed Pacific for much of the half, mostly due to a 20-10 edge on the boards and an 18-6 advantage in points in the paint.
Guard Warren Niles leads Oral Roberts with 12 points, while Steven Roundtree has 10. Pacific got eight points from senior Lorenzo McCloud and seven from Sama Taku. The Tigers have stayed close by making 5 of 9 from beyond the arc and shooting 52-percent from the field.
Pacific likely won’t shoot like that in the second half, so it’ll need much better play inside from Khalil Kelley, Tim Thomas, Ross Rivera, Travis Fulton and Gill to stay in the game and have an opportunity to win it.
More later.
