The Stockton Thunder did a great job last weekend against the Alaska Aces and their group of three NHL players.
The next time it plays Alaska there will be four.
The Aces announced Wednesday it has signed Aslska native Scott Gomez of the Montreal Canadiens. He joins fellow Alaskans Brandon Dubinsky (Columbus Blue Jackets), Nate Thompson (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Joey Crabb (Washington Capitals) on the Aces.
Gomez skated with the Aces in the preseason, but didn’t sign immediately. He played for Alaska during the 2005-06 lockout.
Despite the high-profile skaters, the Thunder beat Alaska 7-4 and 5-1 last weekend. The teams meet again on Nov. 28 at Stockton Arena.
