Northern Illinois lived up to its billing, handling Nevada, 25-20, 25-16, 26-24 in the tournament opener.

The Huskies had a balanced attack with MacKenzie Roddy notching 11 kills, while Mary Kurisch and Sarah Angelos had 10 apiece. Northern Illinois will face Portland State at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Pacific has begun its opening match against Portland State. The Vikings lead 10-9 in the first game.
