It’s go time

The pre-conference portion of the 2009-10 schedule for the Pacific men’s basketball team has come to an end. So, what have we learned through the Tigers’ first 12 games, in which they’ve lost three of their last four and stand at 7-5? They seem to be a mature bunch. They seem to play well together, though they [...]

Happy Holiday

I’m just stopping by to wish everyone a nice, joyous holiday. The Thunder will have to cut its short because of Saturday’s game in Bakersfield. Most of the team is scheduled to return to Stockton Christmas night. But the players will end up with a week-long break. Take care everyone.

Pacific at Santa Clara

With 2:22 remaining in the first half, the Tigers and Broncos are gridlocked at 22-22. That’s unfortunately one of the more interesting things that’s happened in a lackluster half of basketball as Pacific is shooting 40.9-percent.

Deceased Bengals WR Chris Henry not the Chris Henry from Stockton

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities described as a domestic dispute with his fiancee. You can read a story about Henry’s death here; the photo at right is by Amy Sancetta / Associated Press. Henry, 26, was a native of [...]

A surprising sweep and a more surprising promotion

It was an interesting weekend for the Thunder, which went up to Alaska and swept a three-game series from the Aces. They aren’t doing as well as past years, but it’s still very impressive to win three in a row from the Aces at their Olympic-sized rink. The other surprise of thr week was goalie Bryan [...]

Notes from Stockton Showcase

Tickets for the Pacific-Cal basketball game on Wednesday at Stockton Arena were priced so they could be affordable to anyone in Stockton. That’s what the university’s athletic director Lynn King said. And tickets were priced very reasonably starting at $5. However, some people who used stocktontickets.com to purchase their tickets were surprised they had to shell [...]

Pacific-Cal Second Verse, same as the first…

Cal is quickly snuffing out any plans Pacific may have for a rally. Max Zhang has hit a hook, Patrick Christopher has made two free throws and Jorge Guiterrez has hit a runner as the Golden Bears have extended to a 47-27 lead just two minutes into the half. Que up the wave…

Pacific-Cal halftime

Cal leads 41-27 at the half after completely dominating the Tigers. Cal’s superb backcourt has combined for 25 points with the Tigers repeatedly being beaten by Jerome Randle (13 points) on the pick-and-roll. Very little has gone right for Pacific on offense other then the rarely used Royal Edwards hitting two 3-pointers late in the half. The [...]

Pacific-Cal Burnt fuse

So much for that spark. Allen Huddleston and Pat Eveland are 0-for-5 from beyond the arc as the Tigers now trail 29-15. Cal has missed just eight shots from the field (12-of-20) and has six offensive rebounds. The crowd (which has filled in nicely) is doing the wave to amuse themselves. Not good.

Pacific-Cal Twice as Good

Well, the first 10 minutes couldn’t have gone worse for the Pacific Tigers. Cal leads 26-13, which means the Golden Bears are on pace for 104 points. Pacific hasn’t allowed more than 59 in regulation so far this season. The bench is in to provide a spark…
