Why there was a fight one second into the Thunder game …
Why did Garet Hunt of the Thunder and Chris Morehouse of the Alaska Aces drop their gloves and start trading punches immediately after the puck dropped to begin Friday’s 4-3 Alaska win at Stockton Arena?
Because Hunt asked for it.
After the contest, Hunt said he asked Morehouse if he wanted to fight as they got ready to play. Morehouse, who is not known as the bashful type, obliged.
Hunt said part of his motivation was the excited crowd at the Thunder Goes Pink game, which is dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
“I initiated it,” Hunt said. “It was a Pink game, and I wanted to get the fans into it and the team into it.”
If you like hockey fights, this was a decent one. Morehouse finished on top of Hunt, but I thought Hunt landed more punches.
