Can Thunder solve Idaho’s D?
Let’s get the cliche out of the way:
“You can’t win if you can’t score.”
True enough. Stockton has one goal in its past two games against the Steelheads, and not so shockingly has lost both of them, along with the other six games it has played against Idaho. That’s 0-8, folks, and while Idaho is very [...]

The Thunder has to prove it can beat Idaho, especially at home
It’s a little early for must win scenarios, I supposed, but the Thunder has to show its the type of team that can win at home against the better teams in the ECHL. In fact, it has to show it can win home, period.
It hosts the Idaho Steelheads at Stockton Arena on Friday and Saturday. [...]

Braden’s heart in right place
Sometimes journalists can allow themselves to become jaded.
I guess I’m speaking for myself.
So many times, more than I care to remember or count, an athlete or coach lauded for his or her accomplishments slips in their public life, showing a not-so pleasant glimpse into their nature. No need to name names. I’m sure you can think of more [...]

Fantasy Week 12
Start Matt Ryan against the Bucs this week. The Falcons quarterback had a nice bounce-back game last week and should feast against the ‘Bucs.
Sit Jay Cutler against the Vikings.
Start Tony Romo, who always play well on Thanksgiving Day, against the Raiders.
Brandon Jacobs should have a big game against the Broncos, whose rush defense has been [...]

Thunder gets much needed win heading into holiday week
The Thunder’s 4-3 overtime win against Ontario on Saturday wasn’t prefect. Stockton had a 3-0 lead, lost it and needed a goal from Jason Pitton in OT to win. But the Thunder won’t be too picky, since it snapped a seven-game winless streak. And it’s promising that it was able to bounce back and get [...]

Fantasy Football Week 10
Just returned Thursday from New Orleans. I was there on bereavement leave for my grandmother, who passed away in late June. She lived the final four of her 92 years on this earth in Stockton after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She was a character, reflective of the city where she started a family and worked [...]

Eizenman will return for Idaho series finale at Stockton Arena
Forward Oren Eizenman sat out Saturday’s loss to Idaho with a one game-suspension, but will return when the Thunder plays the Steelheads at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Eizenman was given a match penalty and an automatic one-game suspension for kicking against Idaho on Friday. His return can only help an offense which has been very inconsistent this [...]

Idaho coach wins gamble with Huxley
It was either the perfect ending or the perfect nightmare of an ending, depending on who you were rooting for.
The Idaho Steelheads won a 2-1 shootout against the Thunder at Stockton Arena when former Thunder Adam Huxley, better known for his brawling abilities than his shooting skills, scored the decisive goal.
Idaho coach Derek Laxdal gave [...]

Big week for Ricky
Lincoln High graduate Ricky Barnes said he feels fresh and confident entering the final event on the PGA Tour this season, the Children’s Miracle Network Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. It’s a huge week for Barnes, 28, who sits 121st on the PGA Tour’s money list. He has to remain inside the top 125 [...]
