Going into Season 5, Thunder has reason to be optimistic
The Thunder face off against the Idaho Steelheads tonight in the season opener in Boise, Idaho, and as always at this time of year, fans are wondering what kind of team this will be.
The answer is that Stockton should be pretty darn good, based on the opening-day roster. And we all know the roster will change several times through the regular season, because this is the ECHL, and that’s what always happens.
But let’s look at what the Thunder has to offer: The defense should be very strong, but the past combined unit it has had in its five seasons. Both goalies, Andrew Perugini and Bryan Pitton, should be improved as they enter their second season, and the blue line is loaded with talent. It will be interesting to see how coach Matt Thomas matches up his defensemen tonight, he has plenty of options. The team isn’t loaded with shooters, but there’s skill to score enough to win, especially with a good defense.
We’ll find out more after tonight’s game.
