Seahawks add Rankin to active roster

The Seattle Seahawks signed Lincoln High School graduate Louis Rankin to a two-year contract and named the second-year running back to their 53-man active roster today, Rankin’s agent said. Mike Abadir, president of SAPROS Sports Management, said the deal will be announced Wednesday, and Rankin will be in uniform when the Seahawks visit the Dallas [...]

Singletary names Smith new starter

San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary made his move today, naming former No. 1 draft pick Alex Smith the team’s new starting quarterback. Singletary told reporters in Santa Clara this is “not going to be a flavor-of-the-month kind of thing,” adding “we feel that, right now, we need to go with Alex, and I feel [...]

Edison edges West, T-CAL gets interesting

Going in to Friday’s football game between Edison High School (4-3, 2-0 TCAL) and West High School (1-6, 0-2 TCAL) it was difficult to tell just how good, or bad either team was. After Edison’s 22-21 victory, there are still plenty of questions. The big story from the game was West’s 35-yard field goal attempt with [...]

Thunder’s loss was downright ugly

The Thunder lost 7-1 in its home opener at Stockton Arena and is now 0-4 on the season. Yes, it’s as bad as it sounds, but there’s still no reason to panic. It’s early, but man, was that an ugly loss. What is most surprising is that it was never a game. Ontario scores 28 seconds in, [...]

Hasselbeck in Week 6

“Vigalante” sent a comment to my blog for Fantasy Football Week 6 that said, “You didn’t mention the shootout in Seattle where Hasselback should be able to score big. Thanks for the rest.” You’re absolutely right about Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck being a good play this week. Seattle and Arizona meet Sunday in a key NFC [...]

Fantasy Week 6

There could be some big numbers put up this week. Donovan McNabb ripped the Bucs apart last week and goes up against the pathetic Raiders this week. McNabb’s production could be curtailed if the Eagles jump out early. Philly receiver DeSean Jackson could have a monster game in his return to the Bay Area. The former [...]

Fun day at the Fan Fest

The Thunder’s annual Fan Fest is a rare chance for the team’s supporters to see the players up close and personal. And one of the most enjoyable parts is the question and answer sessions, which the players seemingly really enjoy. One young lady asked the players what their favorite prank was. There were several good ones, [...]
